Pagan in Prada: How to Walk Your Nature-Based Path in High Heels and High-Rise Buildings

Let’s get one thing straight: you don’t need to live in a moss-covered cottage with a goat named Freya to call yourself Pagan or follow a nature-based path. Some of us are working nine-to-five jobs, dodging e-scooters and capitalism-induced existential dread, all while trying to honor the moon cycles and sneak herbs into our tote bags without looking like we’re starting a salad bar. We are the Urban Mystics. The Hedge Witches of the High-Rises. The Pagans in Prada. And no, we’re not ditching our love of good shoes for hiking boots just to be taken seriously in the spiritual world. Living a nature-based life in the city isn’t about uprooting your entire existence—it’s about re-rooting yourself right where you are.

1. Nature is Closer Than You Think

You don’t need a forest to connect with the Earth. Your houseplants, the weeds cracking through concrete, the wind that dances between skyscrapers—that’s nature, too. Start seeing the city as a living organism instead of a spiritual dead zone. There's energy pulsing in pavement, power in every thunderstorm that rolls over the skyline.

Take your rituals to the rooftop. Leave offerings at a tree in your local park. Whisper a spell over your morning coffee. This isn’t compromise—it’s creativity.

2. Your Altar Can Live Next to Your Laptop

Sacred space doesn’t need to be a Pinterest-worthy crystal cave. It can be a corner of your desk with a candle, a few stones, and a sprig of rosemary. It can be your bathroom mirror where you stick affirmations. It can be your purse—yes, the one that carries lip balm, receipts, and a tiny jar of salt “just in case.”

The point is: intentionality over aesthetics. Let your altar evolve with your life. One week it’s a luxe setup on your windowsill; the next, it’s a travel altar in a makeup bag. Both are valid. Both are powerful.

3. Ritual in Rush Hour

No time to meditate on a mossy hill at sunrise? Same. But you do have time to breathe intentionally during your commute, to light a candle while making dinner, or to pull a tarot card before your first Zoom call. Micro-rituals are the city witch’s superpower. They keep you anchored without adding another thing to your already chaotic calendar. Walking to work? Make it a mindful stroll. Doing laundry? Add a cleansing intention. Your everyday moments are low-key magical AF when you allow them to be.

4. Seasonal Living with a Side of Takeout

The Wheel of the Year doesn’t stop spinning just because your tomatoes are store-bought. Celebrate the sabbats with what’s accessible: candles, music, baked goods from your favorite corner café. Imbolc can be a white-themed breakfast. Mabon might look like wine and journaling on your balcony while pretending your LED fairy lights are stars.

Urban Sabbats are about syncing your internal rhythm with the Earth’s—not matching Instagram-worthy pagan aesthetics. Keep it real. Keep it meaningful.

5. You’re Allowed to Be Glamorous and Grounded

There’s a tired stereotype that witches must be barefoot and broke to be authentic. We reject that respectfully—and fabulously. Wear the heels. Rock the blazer. Light the incense. You’re not less “nature-based” because your greenery is in pots and your rituals are sandwiched between meetings. In fact, navigating this wild urban jungle with intention, intuition, and lipstick? That’s power.

You Are the Wild

The truth is, the Earth doesn’t ask us to abandon our lives—it asks us to be present in them. To listen. To connect. And connection can happen anywhere, even on the 27th floor of a corporate building with mediocre air conditioning and a dying ficus. So keep your crystals in your clutch. Speak your spells in subway tunnels. Be the witch sipping a matcha latte while journaling under fluorescent lights. You are nature. You are magic. You are Pagan in Prada—and you’re doing just fine. Want a matching ritual for city-dwelling mystics? Let me know and I’ll whip one up that fits in your lunch break.

Hi, thanks for stopping by!

I’m Nicole—urban by choice, mystic by nature. I love black cats, good chai or matcha, and conversations that start late and end with epiphanies. Somewhere between spreadsheets and spellwork, I found my calling: helping people make sense of the mess, the magic, and even the Mondays.

This is my cauldron—a place where modern life meets modern mysticism, stirred with curiosity, a dash of rebellion, and a whole lot of heart. Pull up a chair, pour yourself something warm, and let’s see what kind of magic we can discover together.
